The Good: The resistance is immediate and has a wide range. Turning the tension knob adds friction, making the pedals very heavy. You can absolutely get a killer leg workout. Because it’s manual, there are zero electronics to fail. It’s also very quiet in terms of mechanical clicking—just the soft "whirr" of the flywheel. The Bad: After 3 months of heavy use (5 days a week), I’ve had to tighten the felt pads twice. You will eventually wear down the pads and need to replace them ($10 part online). Also, unlike magnetic bikes, the resistance is not perfectly linear. Some days it feels smooth; other days you feel a slight "gritty" vibration if the pad isn't seated perfectly.
